Accessing data using your copy of ferret

DODS allows one to give a application a url and have it directly download data. To read this data into ferret use
set data "http://iridl.ldeo.columbia.edu/SOURCES/.IGOSS/.nmc/.Reyn_SmithOIv1/.monthly/.ssta/yearly-climatology/%5BX+Y+%5Ddetrend-bfl/Y+partial/X+differences/%5BX+Y+%5Ddetrend-bfl/Y+partial/%5BX+Y+%5Ddetrend-bfl/T+integral/%5BY+%5Ddetrend-bfl/T+partial/X+differences/%5BX+T+%5Ddetrend-bfl/%5BY+T+%5Ddetrend-bfl/dods"
If ferret refuses to read the file, saying
** netCDF error: Invalid Argument
is this a CDF file ?
it is quite possible that you can use set data after you download the netcdf file.

If you have questions, comments, or problems please use the help@iri link. This page will evolve as we learn more about how Ferret handles data downloads, and your help pointing out problems is much appreciated.

There is a bug in ferret which is corrected in release 6.0 (see notes about "nonstandard calendar axes"). Please upgrade if you are using monthly data.
