Reduced Space Optimal Interpolation of the COADS Global Sea Level Pressure Anomalies

Version 1

Reduced Space Optimal Interpolation procedure has been applied to the global sea level pressure (SLP) record of COADS averaged on 4x4 grid. The results of the analysis of anomalies are here .

These anomalies are with respect to the climatological annual cycle estimated from the COADS data for the period 1951-1980. This climatology is here .

The details of the procedure are described in the paper
Kaplan A., Y. Kushnir, M.A. Cane, 2000: Reduced space optimal interpolation of historical marine sea level pressure, J. Climate, 13, 2987-3002.,
which can be downloaded here

The original 2 degree MSTG summaries of COADS data on which the analysis was based can be viewed e.g. here .
