Accessing data using your copy of ferret

DODS allows one to give a application a url and have it directly download data. To read this data into ferret use
set data "http://iridl.ldeo.columbia.edu/SOURCES/.NOAA/.NCDC/.DAILY/.FSOD/THIC/1+index/.SMMM/2+index/.HTDG/3+index/.FRGB/4+index/.THIC/5+index/.TSUN/%5BWBAN+%5Ddetrend-bfl/6+index/.SMMM/7+index/.STMM/%5BWBAN+%5Ddetrend-bfl/WBAN+differences/1+index/9+index/.elev/dods"
If ferret refuses to read the file, saying
** netCDF error: Invalid Argument
is this a CDF file ?
it is quite possible that you can use set data after you download the netcdf file.

If you have questions, comments, or problems please use the help@iri link. This page will evolve as we learn more about how Ferret handles data downloads, and your help pointing out problems is much appreciated.

There is a bug in ferret which is corrected in release 6.0 (see notes about "nonstandard calendar axes"). Please upgrade if you are using monthly data.
