Accessing data using your copy of ferret

DODS allows one to give a application a url and have it directly download data. To read this data into ferret use
set data "http://iridl.ldeo.columbia.edu/SOURCES/.NOAA/.NCDC/.ERSST/.version2/.SST/yearly-anomalies/Y/%2810N%29%2870N%29RANGEEDGES/T/%28Dec-Feb%201870-2004%29VALUES/X/%285W%29%2880W%29RANGEEDGES/%7BY/cosd%7D%5BX/Y%5D%5BT%5Dsvd/.Ts/ev+integral/T+integral/dods"
If ferret refuses to read the file, saying
** netCDF error: Invalid Argument
is this a CDF file ?
it is quite possible that you can use set data after you download the netcdf file.

If you have questions, comments, or problems please use the help@iri link. This page will evolve as we learn more about how Ferret handles data downloads, and your help pointing out problems is much appreciated.

There is a bug in ferret which is corrected in release 6.0 (see notes about "nonstandard calendar axes"). Please upgrade if you are using monthly data.
