Accessing data using your copy of ferret

  • COARDS-compliant programs would prefer months since 0000-01-01. Click here to change the units accordingly. DODS allows one to give a application a url and have it directly download data. To read this data into ferret use
    set data "http://iridl.ldeo.columbia.edu/SOURCES/.UMD/.Carton/.goa/.beta7/.t/Y+differences/%5BY+%5Ddetrend-bfl/%5BZ+%5Ddetrend-bfl/%5BX+Y+%5Ddetrend-bfl/X+partial/yearly-climatology/Y+partial/%5BX+Z+%5Ddetrend-bfl/%5BX+Y+T+%5Ddetrend-bfl/X+differences/X+integral/Y+differences/dods"

If ferret refuses to read the file, saying
    ** netCDF error: Invalid Argument
is this a CDF file ?

it is quite possible that you can use set data after you download the netcdf file.

If you have questions, comments, or problems please use the help@iri link. This page will evolve as we learn more about how Ferret handles data downloads, and your help pointing out problems is much appreciated.

There is a bug in ferret which is corrected in release 6.0 (see notes about "nonstandard calendar axes"). Please upgrade if you are using monthly data.
