Base Period for Climatology:  1 Jan 2002 to present
Data Source:  NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis

Description:  Five-day average 200 hPa velocity potential anomalies for the last 180 days over the equatorial Indian and Pacific Oceans (50°E to 80°W longitude), averaged over 5°S to 5°N latitude. Shading starts at -/+10 x 10^5 m^2/s. Shading interval is 20 x 10^5 m^2/s. The most recent data are at the top of the figure. The vertical black line denotes 180° longitude.

NCEP is an acronym for the US National Centers for Environmental Prediction, and NCAR is an acronym for the National Center for Atmospheric Research.
