Monthly Wind Climatology

This map shows the monthly average wind climatology for the indicated month of the year and pressure level, using the 1991-2020 climatological base period.

Climatological wind vectors are plotted, along with shading and contours indicating the resultant wind speed (in m/s). Vector orientation indicates the direction of the resultant wind, and the vector length indicates the wind speed. A vector scale in the lower-right-hand corner of the plot shows the vector length associated with a given wind speed (in m/s). The shading and contour interval for the wind speed is 3 m/s.
