Change in Sea Surface Temperature Anomaly from Previous Month

This map displays the difference in sea surface temperature anomaly from the previous month for the Pacific Ocean.

Monthly changes in sea surface temperature anomalies are shown in units of °C. Yellow to red colors on the map indicate an increase in the monthly sea surface temperature anomaly from the previous month, and shades of blue indicate a decrease in the anomaly from the previous month. Contours are drawn at an interval of 0.5°C, and shading starts at +/- 0.5°C. Monthly sea surface temperature anomalies are calculated with respect to the 1991-2020 climatology. The time label displays the middle dates of the two months over which the difference is calculated; the difference is calculated as the temperature anomaly in the later month minus the temperature anomaly in the previous month.
